From 11th October 2022 through until Saturday the 15th October 2022, Bill Kenwright presents Willy Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers‘ at the Blackpool Winter Gardens and we were lucky enough to get to see it.
The musical is a contemporary nature versus nurture tale, revolving around fraternal twins Mickey and Eddie. Brought up apart, as the twins grow, they both fall for the same girl and …without adding a spoiler…. this ultimately leads to their tragic deaths.
Former X-Factor finalist Niki Evans returns to the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone and Sean Jones also returns to the role of Mickey having first appeared in Blood Brothers all the way back in 1999!!
Featuring hits such as Marilyn Monroe, Easy Terms, Bright New Day there’s bound to be something that will get your foot tapping….. or perhaps even stood up and doing a little boogie!!!
From our night, we have to say, Niki Evans put in a faultless vocal performance as Mrs Johnstone from the opening number ‘Marilyn Monroe’ all the way through to the finale ‘Tell me its not true’.
Sean Jones and Jay Worley were absolutely fabulous as the twins Mickey and Eddie and Richard Munday narrated the whole show to perfection. The show ended with a standing ovation by a busy Opera House…….. and that was more than deserved!
If you can get chance during the time it’s in Blackpool, go see it….. though we cant guarantee dry eyes come the end of the night 🙂
If you liked this blog (which has been a bit rushed to be honest) then why don’t you have a read of some of our other blogs such as ‘top family bars‘ or ‘5 exciting different things to do in Blackpool‘ and if you fancy giving us a follow / like on social media, that’s would be fab!!
